Rate the product, not the price

Reviews should focus on the product, not the price (which seems to change frequently; I'm guessing the 3rd party seller prices used to be a lot higher when one of the other reviews was written). Mentioning the retail price in the commends is helpful; rating the product low because of what someone is selling it for, is not. I almost didn't buy this because of the ratings here when I was checking out reviews; fortunately I read the comments instead of just looking at the numbers.
Lego Mars Mission MT-101 Armored Drilling Unit

My 9 year old grandson loved it! It is 3 vehicles in one, making it lots of fun to put together, plus it has an alien ship too. And the aliens glow in the dark, which is fun for a kid too! He'd been wanting one of the Mars Mission sets for a long time. I found out though, that because it is a discontinued/retired item at [...], I had to search on line for it. Also, because the Mars Mission sets seem to be collector items now, they can have unreasonably high prices. Altogether for the drilling unit and the shipping fee I paid $62, but it was worth it. I rec'd the item in a timely manner. All the pieces were there. I was very pleased with my purchase! And my grandson was happy Grandma & Grandpa got it for him for his birthday!
Creative imagination.

Bought this for my son at ToysRUs for $72, with a 10% off credit. My advise...shop around.
Rhino

This lego "rhino" (according to the decals) is a specialty/limited series set I picked up as my first investment into the Mission to Mars series. As a whole I find the series somewhat hit and miss overall but I'm happy to see a return to space themed legos.
The set assembled easy, the bags are numbered and the instructions are clear and easy enough to follow. Once assembled the vehicle was impressive looking and functions well.
Cool:
1. The vehicle is actually 3 vehicles in one (some type of bike, a spaceship and the main wheeled drilling unit) which is pretty cool.
2. The drilling arm is a little short.
3. Includes an alien vessel.
4. Tough, rugged appearance and semi-functioning suspensions.
5. Awesome decals.
Not so cool:
1. The three vehicles that make up the drilling unit don't connect to the unit well and slide out freely during play.
2. The alien mini-figs aren't poseable.
3. What is with the tubes on the side of the spaceship for imprisoning aliens in?
4. No matter where you buy this thing, the price is higher than other lego sets. |
Resellers are thieves

While this is a cool set, the resellers on Amazon have it, as usual, absurdly over-priced. Go to Lego's online shop or Toys R Us and buy it for it's actual retail price, which is almost half the price as that offered by the the likes of Waityn4JC. Nice values there, mate.
