In the Exo-Force storyline, humans are in constant war against robots that have malfunctioned and are now bent on total domination. The Sonic Phantom, a jet-powered hovercraft with rotating turret guns and a devastating forward missile, tips the scales decidedly in favor of the robots. The set comes with 215 pieces, a robot pilot minifig, and a full-color, illustrated instruction booklet that diagrams model construction in 31 steps. Trim pieces include flexible plastic hoses that give the ship a more realistic, less blocky look. The back of the box shows alternate model images for a speeder cycle, but no diagram is included. Inside the box you'll find eight decals, four wheels/rotors, and four bags of bricks, connectors, and trim pieces. Also included is an illustrated block inventory with part numbers, in case you need to ever re-order a replacement block. Parents should note that a blunt, rubber, spring-loaded missile shoots about five feet from the completed model. It's not enough to do anything but pretend damage, but in the wrong hands, it could be used to make a younger sibling cry. --Porter B. Hall
